hard to see any middle ground between this all being some secret masterstroke akin to the d-day landings to land a manager like amorim where we've got all our ducks in a line a year in advance and cunting off moyes in the january window was part of it, or us becoming a balkanised farce where everyone is rowing in polar opposite directions as salthouse tickles sullivans' bollocks and whispers his preferred names in his ear while anyone with a football IQ above infant school level fucks off out the club lively.

Spot on. Would be classic Sullivan. Try and save a few mill on a cheapo/poor manager appointment to save a few quid now which ends up costing tenfold more to fix in 18 months time.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
If Amorim is interested & we are reluctant to pay £10m for him that is classic pennywise pound foolish from Sullivan
We’ve wasted that on Phillips & more on the likes of Ings

The way I see it is that Amorim is top of our wish list but we’re not top of his.

We have other targets that we like but not as much as him.

Amorim, you brought an expert in for this type of decision Sullivan let him do his job!!!

Sporting won yesterday so need 1 more point in their last 2 to clinch the title.
Though it’s done tonight if Benfica don’t win

Presume that’s when Amorim will talk
That said the Portuguese cup final v Porto is on May 26

Yeah, I was thinking about Michel as well after watching that Barca game. Incredible achievement to get Girona to finish 2nd or 3rd, and by playing good attacking football, not like Simeone at Atletico. They might be owned by the same lot as Man City but so far they've done it on a small budget.

There were reports last month that he turned down an offer from Chelsea and planned to stay at Girona next season, and apparently long term he's seen as a replacement for Guardiola, whose contract expires next season. So I don't see much chance of us getting him.

Do you think David Moyes will retire when he eventually leaves West Ham?
I can’t imagine any other football club would employ him. Perhaps the inhabitants of Lytham St Anne’s will vote for him to be their next Mayor.

Just had a thought, maybe that's why nobody was bought in January as we were setting aside the compensation for Amorim. Plus Moyes generally is an idiot with transfers so they sidelined him on his picks.

It's always been Amorim from the beginning

Completely agree. He will always revert to type and make the cheap short sighted decision when under pressure push comes to shove. Ignoring the people he pays to do this stuff and hiring lop over Amorim purely because he’s the cheaper choice immediately rather than necessarily being the right choice long term

With Sullivan in charge we are bound to make the wrong/cheapest choice i fear. Whenever we are at a crossroads as a club we seem to always get it wrong with the chairman the one constant factor

As much as Hugh was an old soak, he was a Journo with strong connections to the inner West Ham sanctum.

Gonzo has some how inherited the website, and without any effort to qualify or validate a rumour is just churning out content.

As a result the website is now just a consolidated rumour mill with no useful purpose.

Steidten has just been banned from the first team. Of course he's involved in the managerial hunt. Ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

I wouldn't usually post up Patreon stuff from ExWhu, but this update was quite insightful:

The current manager situation still rumbles on with a decision still claimed to have yet to have been made.

It does seem however that the current backroom staff are becoming more aware that their positions are likely to be up at the end of the season however with a couple speaking to other clubs incase they are replaced.

It has been confirmed to us by the club that Steidten has “mutually agreed” not to get involved with the current first team for the time being as it is seen as a conflict of interests whilst he is also looking for a potential manager to replace the current one.

It is thought that Steidten was heavily behind the bringing over of Ruben Amorim and didn’t inform Moyes that this was happening which is where the initial problems occurred. It is understood that both him and Noble think the Portuguese manager is the best replacement should Moyes go. It is understood however that the compensation to get Amorim out of his job could put the current board off.

They are said to favour the appointment of Julen Lopetegui who of course carries the benefit of being out of work and therefore not requiring compensation. His previous successes in Spain have attracted him to David Sullivan and it is thought that further discussions have continued about what he could bring to the table and that Sullivan has been impressed.

These two are said to be the front runners for the post but with no decision having been made as yet.

There are other managers who could also come into the mix (Fonseca, Flick and others) and we have mentioned them in previous updates.

The club keep insisting however that no decision is yet made and a decision would be made shortly after final game of the season.

There has even been some talk that Moyes could move upstairs with a younger coach coming in to work underneath him for a few years although it isn’t thought that David Moyes would accept this, especially as he has a number of alternative job offers on the table.

We will keep you up to date with this and other news as we have it.

Update 1: David Sullivan is also aware that the appointment of Lopetegui would not necessarily be a popular one which is also in his thought process at the moment.

Update 2: Tim Steidten is also said to have approved Lopetegui if Amorim isn’t to be the choice however it is felt Amorim has always been his first choice.

Update 3: I believe there will be another discussion around Amorim before a final decision is made because it has been made clear this is the preferred choice of those advising Sullivan. They will try again to convince him that the release and wages are worth it. Of course it isn’t clear at moment whether Amorim will take the job although at this stage for the right money and assurances it is felt he will. Sullivan is said to feel more comfortable with appointment of Lopetegui due to no compensation, previous PL experience and a more proven track record. They are thought to want to talk to another two candidates then a decision will be made.

Update 4: It is also felt that Lopetgui is the name that a preferred agent is promoting to David Sullivan too.

Update 5: It is felt that Almorin would still require some convincing to take the West Ham job if offered it to him. There were things that they didn’t agree on and would require changes to be made. This is why the whole package of Lopetgui appeals more to the club. A further discussion is expected with Almorin however to get his final thought process.

Gonzo at C&H click bait ? Its believable but surely not ?

Breaking news reports suggest that West Ham’s Director of Football, Tim Steidten, is not involved in recruiting David Moyes’ successor.

Instead, the initiative is believed to be led by Unique Sports Management CEO and football agent Will Salthouse, who is understood to be involved in the deal to bring Julen Lopetegui to East London.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Michel yet. It's unbelievable what he has managed since becoming a manager. Promoting 3 different unfashionable Clubs from the 2nd division in Spain and absolutely ripping it up in La Liga with Girona, who are currently beating Barcelona 4-2. It's all been done on a tight budget and it's very entertaining football too. 48yo with plenty in the tank for any Club wishing to snap him up. I'd put him on a par with Amorim with respect to the levels of Football. Serious Coach.

O'Neil hasn't really done better though. His points per game is worse than Lopetegui's was. Personally wouldn't want either one of them.
